The EPA has selected Alameda County to receive a $1.5 million Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant on June 23, 2026. This grant will launch a partnership with the County Housing and Community Development Department (HCD), the Alameda County Treasurer‑Tax Collector’s Office, the City of Oakland, and East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) to bring long‑vacant, tax‑defaulted, and contaminated properties back to public use as affordable housing.
