Housing Vouchers and Alameda County Housing Authorities

Alameda County Housing & Community Development Department (HCD) does not issue or manage housing choice vouchers (section 8 vouchers). HCD does coordinate with the following Alameda County housing authorities in pursuit of providing affordable housing for all who qualify.

Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA)
The Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA) operates a number of programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that provide rental housing or rental assistance for low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and others, in much of Alameda County. HACA maintains a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) wait list and project-based wait lists for individual properties assisted through the Project-Based Voucher and Moderate Rehabilitation programs. Housing Authority of the City of Alameda
The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) is a mission driven team that everyday works towards providing housing solutions for the City of Alameda’s most vulnerable community members. AHA currently assists approximately 4,000 individuals with housing and AHA is actively working to increase the number of affordable homes in the City of Alameda so that even more low-income individuals and families can be served. Berkeley Housing Authority
Established in 1966, the Berkeley Housing Authority (BHA) provides rental assistance to a total of 1,939 low-income household units through the Section 8 and Moderate Rehabilitation Program. The BHA provides assistance without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, family status, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability status. Contact the Office: 510-981-5470

Livermore Housing Authority
The Housing Authority of the City of Livermore, also known as Livermore Housing Authority, is a local public agency providing safe, decent, and quality affordable housing for low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities in the City of Livermore.  Through a variety of federal, state, and local partnerships, the Livermore Housing Authority promotes housing and service opportunities that encourage and support eligible individuals and families toward achieving greater independence and self-sufficiency.
